Beacon Hill Carriage House
Boston, MA
2022
A rare 19th-century carriage house tucked into the heart of Beacon Hill was meticulously converted into a luxurious urban sanctuary. The project preserved the integrity of Boston’s architectural heritage while reimagining the space to support a sophisticated, tech-integrated lifestyle. The result is a unique blend of Old World charm and modern innovation.

Preserving Heritage
The structure had undergone years of piecemeal repairs with little regard for its original design, resulting in inconsistencies and structural vulnerabilities. Deteriorating brickwork, outdated electrical systems, and minimal natural light made it uninhabitable by modern standards. The challenge was to protect its historical character while creating a home that supported comfort, technology, and sustainability.
Crafting Modern Luxury with Historic Integrity
Cerna Contracting collaborated with preservation specialists to restore original brick facades, refurbish hand-forged iron details, and install heritage-style windows with improved thermal performance. Inside, bespoke cabinetry, radiant heated floors, and a state-of-the-art AV system were seamlessly integrated. We honored the building’s history while future-proofing it for contemporary living.
